International Guest Lecture: Challenges of Hearing Impairment in School-Aged Children Academic

On Friday, August 2, 2024, an International Guest Lecture was held with the theme “Challenges of Hearing Impairment in School-Aged Children.” The event featured expert speakers in their respective fields, including Prof. Dr. Nyilo Purnami, MD, ORL-HNS, Neurotology Consultant; Ni Putu Oktaviani Rinika Pranitasari, MD, ORL-HNS; and Guest Speaker Dr. Christopher Waterworth, AAudA, PhD.

The lecture addressed various challenges faced by school-aged children with hearing impairments, covering medical and diagnostic aspects as well as the impact on learning processes and social development. The speakers provided in-depth insights into the importance of early detection, appropriate interventions, and the role of healthcare professionals, educators, and families in supporting children with hearing impairments to achieve their full developmental potential.

This international guest lecture offered significant benefits, not only as a platform for sharing the latest scientific knowledge but also for expanding academic networks and fostering international collaboration in the field of ENT-HL. Through this activity, it is hoped that broader awareness will be raised regarding hearing impairment in school-aged children and strategic steps for effective management can be promoted.
